What is Smile Design?

Smile design is an aesthetic and functional treatment. The aim of this treatment is to correct the appearance and position of teeth. It is a treatment where individuals have the chance to choose the size, shape, and color of their teeth to enhance their aesthetic appearance. Smile design is carried out in two sessions. In the first session, planning is done, and a Mock-up is prepared. The patient is shown in advance what their smile will look like once the design is completed. Necessary adjustments are discussed and planned mutually during this session to ensure that the patient does not encounter any unwanted surprises. During smile design, parameters such as facial proportions, tooth sizes, gum levels, jaw closure relationship, patient’s age, occupation, and gender are taken into consideration to create the smile design. With aesthetic smile design, along with significant aesthetic improvement by achieving harmony among the teeth that make up a large part of the face, the patient’s self-confidence increases.
